THE GREAT WALL A symbol of the ancient Chinese civilzation Construction of the Wall begain in the 7th century B.C. Known as one of the great wonders of the world, it starts from the Yalu River in the east, and ends at Jiayuguan in the west, stretching 6,350 kilometers. THE TEMPLE OF HEAVEN is the largesst temple complex in China. It served as the place where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties would pray to Heaven for good harvests, and consists of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, the Imperial Vault of heaven, the Circular Mound Altar, and the Echo Wall. |

THE SUMMER PALACE is one of the largest royal gardens in China, covering an area of 297 hectares. Originally a summer resort of the Qing court, it consists of the Kunming Lake and the Longevity Hill, as well as a Long Corridor, the Pvilion of the Fragrance of Buddha, the Garden of harmonious Interest, a Stone Boat, the Seventeen-arch Bridge, and the Bronze Ox. |

THE
PALACE MUSEUM also know as the Forbidden City, lies in the center of Beijing. It is the largest palace and the best preserved palace building complex in the world. Occuping an area of 72 hectares, it was built between 1406 and 1420, and served as the imperial palace for the Ming and Qing dynasties. It has 9,000 halls and rooms, containing many precious relics. |
