GUANGDONG - Guangzhou is the capital of Guangdong
province and the economic and cultural center of South China. The
city covers an area of 7434.5 square kilometers with a population
of 6.5 million. Now the city has a network of over 2,500 Banks branches,
and 55 offices of foreign financial institutions, 18 foreign insurance
companies have been set up in the city, which are forming a network
provides financial service for the Pearl River Delta area and south
China.
Industries Development: The Guangzhou Economic and Technology
Development Zone and the Guangzhou Boned Area have made new progress.
The four state - level development zones expanded a total area of
8.5 square kilometers. Those zones are developing into highly export
- oriented production areas with distinctive features.
City Planning and Construction: The city built or reconstructed
152 kilometers of local highs and 14 major roads of the city. The
new Liberation Bridge over the Pearl River, the Jiangwan Bridge,
The Hedong Bridge, Tianhe Railway Station, the Tianhe Passengers
highway transportation hub and other key projects with best achievement.
The telecommunications achieved rapid development. The capacity
of telephone switches exceeded of 2 million sets and telephone number
was raised to 8 digits.
Other cities and Special Economic Development Zones: Most
big cities in the province have already opened for overseas investments,
there are Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Santou three cities are the Special
Economic Development Zones; Dongguan, Foshan, Jiangmen, Shunde,
four cities are the major industries and economic developing cities
of Guangdong province. All overseas investors are welcomed.
