INNER MONGOLIA AUT. REG. - Huhhot in the central part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and to the south of Daqing Mountain, Huhhot has been since ancient times a place for exchange of economy and culture between Han nationality and national minorities in north China. The old city was built in the Ming Dynasty and the new one was built in the northeast by the Qing Dynasty. There are many lamaseries in Huhhot, which include the famous Dazhao, Xilituzhao and Wusutuzhao. It has total urban areas of 75.4 square kilometers, and an urban population of 700,000. Its resources are coal, graphite, marble stone, kaolin, gold, lead, zinc, and fur, meat, milk and medicine.

Economic Development and Industrial Development Zone
The main sector of the city is industry, with chemical, textile, building materials, food, electronics, and engineering as the backbones. The city now has two development zones: Ruyi economic and technological development zone and Jinchuaan resources economic development zone. More than 500 of foreign funded enterprises, were established and under operated in the city. They are mainly focus on those industries, such as clothing, textile products, non-metal minerals, service, electronics, telecommunications, processing and fur industries.

Convenient Transportation
The city total length of road in effect is 2,500 kilometers, the capacity of freight transport reached 26 million tons. The air transportation, the city has 20 domestic and international lines. It has been linked with Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

Baotou and Chifeng Economy Environment
Baotou City and Chifeng City are the major progress cities of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Baotou is the largest industrial city and situated in the western part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It covers a total area of 27,691 square kilometers, with a population of 1.3 million. Baotou is rich in natural resources, with 2,154 hectares of grassland, 303 hectares of cultivated land, 32 hectares of forests, an iron ore deposit of 1.3 billion tons, a coal deposit 649 million tons, a rare metals deposit of 88.7719 million tons, a rare earth deposit of 87 million tons, a niobium deposit of 2.5 million tons, a gold deposit of 32.95 tons and a non-metal mineral deposit of 181.25 million tons. Baotou boasts 36 major industries, with those of metallurgy, mechanical and electrical equipment, chemistry, textiles, rare earth and electric power as the pillar industries. The Baotou Eare Earth High and New Technology Industry Development Zone was established in 1990. It is characterized with the production of rare earth. A scientific- technological development service center also in the city has been built and put into operation. There are more than 150 enterprises had been set up in Baotou Rare Earth High and New Techonology Industry Development Zone, it is becoming a hot spot for overseas investment and also a new point of economic growths in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Chifeng situated in central east Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the city covers more than 90,000 square kilometers with a population of 4.42 million. The city's under ground mineral has more than 70 proven minerals - gold, silver, non-ferrous metals, coal, iron, crude oil, limestone, and marble, all high grade and large reserves.
